Netflix Setup

Sync your Netflix watch history to your tracking services.

How It Works

Unlike media servers, Netflix doesn’t provide webhooks or real-time APIs. Instead, Plaxt uses a cookie-based approach to periodically fetch your viewing history from Netflix.

Important: This is a periodic sync, not real-time scrobbling. Your history is synced at regular intervals. Note: Netflix does not provide a public scrobbling API. This integration uses your own browser session cookies. Use it only if permitted by Netflix’s terms; availability may change.

Prerequisites

  • A Netflix account
  • Access to your Netflix cookies (from your browser)
  • Plaxt Pro subscription
  • Agreement to Netflix’s terms for your own account access

Connecting Netflix

Coming Soon: We’re developing a browser extension that will simplify this process—no manual cookie extraction required. Stay tuned!

Step 1: Get Your Netflix Cookies

  1. Log in to Netflix in your browser
  2. Open your browser’s developer tools (F12 or right-click → Inspect)
  3. Go to the Application tab (Chrome) or Storage tab (Firefox)
  4. Find Cookieshttps://www.netflix.com
  5. Copy the values for these cookies:
    • NetflixId
    • SecureNetflixId

Step 2: Add to Plaxt

  1. Go to Connections in the Plaxt dashboard
  2. Click Connect Netflix
  3. Paste your cookie values
  4. Click Connect

Plaxt will verify the cookies and fetch your profile information.

Sync Frequency

Netflix history is synced periodically:

  • Pro plan: Every 4 hours
  • Manual sync available anytime from the dashboard

Limitations

Due to Netflix’s API restrictions:

  • No real-time scrobbling — History syncs periodically, not instantly
  • Watch progress not tracked — Only completed views are synced
  • Cookie expiration — Cookies may expire and need refreshing

Multi-Profile Support

If you have multiple Netflix profiles:

  1. Each profile requires its own connection
  2. Create separate sync links for each profile
  3. Cookies are profile-specific in Netflix

Refreshing Cookies

Netflix cookies expire periodically. When they expire:

  1. Plaxt will show a warning in your dashboard
  2. Follow the cookie extraction steps again
  3. Update your connection with new cookies

Privacy & Security

  • Plaxt only reads your viewing history
  • Cookies are stored encrypted
  • We never access payment or account settings
  • You can revoke access anytime by disconnecting

Troubleshooting

”Invalid cookies” error

  1. Make sure you copied the complete cookie values
  2. Check that you’re logged into Netflix in your browser
  3. Try logging out and back into Netflix, then get fresh cookies

History not syncing

  1. Verify your cookies haven’t expired
  2. Check if the profile has recent viewing history
  3. Try a manual sync from the dashboard

Missing shows or movies

  1. Only items marked as “watched” in Netflix sync
  2. Partially watched content may not appear
  3. Very recent views may take time to appear in Netflix’s history

Best Practices

  • Refresh cookies every few weeks to prevent expiration
  • Use a dedicated browser profile for cookie extraction
  • Check the dashboard periodically for connection warnings
